Objective: The present study aimed to compare the effectiveness of praying with and without mindfulness in anxiety levels.
Method: This is a semi-experimental study with pre-test, post-test design and a control group. The study population involved all people with medium anxiety who reside in Tehran. The sampling method was of available and voluntarily kind. The sample includes ۳۲ people with medium anxiety who were selected through the website www.ravanagahi.com answering to Beck’s anxiety scale (BAI). They were then assigned randomly into experimental and controlled groups. The experimental group received a six-hour course on mindful praying while control group received no education. Both groups filled out Beck’s anxiety scale after one month again.
Result: results showed that there were significant differences between mindful prayer and prayer without mindfulness (p<۰/۰۱) in anxiety levels.
Conclusion: the results show that mindful prayer can be an effective method in decreasing anxiety.
