Modeling of meaning in life based on religiosity and self-efficacy with the mediating role of social values in adolescent girls

Abstract

The present research was conducted with the aim of modeling the meaning in life based on religiosity and self-efficacy with the mediating role of social values. The research method was descriptive of correlation and structural equations. The statistical population of the research included 4580 female adolescents aged 15 to 18 in the second year of high school in Ilam city. To estimate the sample size from the table of Karjesi and Morgan, the minimum allowed sample was determined as 384 people, and this number of samples was selected by multi-stage cluster sampling. Data measurement tools include; Meaningfulness of Life Questionnaire, General Self-Efficacy Questionnaire, Gluck and Stark's Religiosity Questionnaire, and the Social Values Questionnaire. The findings showed that the causal model of predicting meaning in life based on religiosity and self-efficacy with the mediation of social values has a favorable fit and social values can play a mediating role in the relationship between religiosity and self-efficacy with meaningfulness of life.
