Abstract

The present study was conducted to compare the effectiveness of positive-Islamic education and choice theory education on students' character strengths. The research method was a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test post-test design with a control group. The statistical population was female students of the University of Quran and Family Education in the academic year 2024-2025, of which a sample of 45 people was selected using the convenience sampling method and randomly assigned to three groups. All three groups completed the character strengths questionnaires before and after the intervention. The experimental group of positive-Islamic education and the other experimental group received choice theory education for eight sessions. The data were analyzed with SPSS22 software and the results of univariate and multivariate analysis of variance showed that there was a significant difference between the three groups in the character capabilities variable in the post-test. The results indicated the effectiveness of both interventions compared to the control group, and a significant difference in the scales of wisdom, courage, love, justice, and excellence. Also, the comparison of the two interventions showed that choice theory training was significantly more effective than positive-Islamic education in increasing wisdom, courage, love, justice, and excellence.
