Modeling self-actualization based on responsibility and psychological well-being with the mediating role of self-efficacy beliefs

Abstract

The present study aimed to model self-actualization based on responsibility and psychological well-being with the mediation of self-efficacy beliefs. This was a descriptive-correlational modeling study. The statistical population of this study included students of educational centers in Qom in the academic year 2024-2025. The statistical sample size was determined to be 200 people based on Klein's rule, which was carried out using a random-cluster sampling method. To collect research data, Esmailkhani's self-actualization, California Responsibility, Riff's Psychological Well-Being, and Scherer's Self-Efficacy Beliefs questionnaire were used. The obtained data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and path analysis regression. The research findings showed that the proposed model fit the data. There is also a positive and direct relationship between students' psychological well-being and their self-actualization, and a positive and indirect relationship between responsibility and self-actualization. Self-efficacy beliefs have a full mediating role in the relationship between responsibility and self-actualization, but self-efficacy beliefs have a partial mediating role in the relationship between psychological well-being and self-actualization.
