Abstract

This research aimed to identify psychological factors that reduce spiritual motivation. The approach of this research was qualitative and included grounded theory method. This goal was achieved by identifying factors that reduce spiritual motivation. In order to identify these factors, the text of the Holy Quran and Hadiths were used as the basis and data were collected. The coding process began to analyze the data. The coding results led to the identification of 32 concepts, 8 subcategories, and 3 main categories that were placed under a dimension called factors that reduce spiritual motivation. These findings showed that these factors can be placed in 3 categories: fundamental intrapersonal factors, external factors, and mediating intrapersonal factors. The hypothetical relationships between them can be explained. The above findings were evaluated by 9 experts based on the concordance and necessity indices as having high validity. Accordingly, some concepts were removed, but all categories remained unchanged and were approved by experts.
