Development of a religious commitment model based on attachment style with the mediating role of image of God

Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of developing a model of religious commitment based on attachment styles with the mediating role of the image of God. This is a fundamental research and the research design was based on the relationships of the structural equation model. The statistical population includes all male and female students of Islamic Azad University, Yadgar Imam Khomeini (rip) Branch in the second half of the academic year 2024-2025. 340 people were selected by multi-stage cluster random sampling method and data were collected using Religious Commitment Questionnaire, Attachment Styles Scale, and the Image of God Based on the Divine Names Scale. Data analysis was done with SPSS-27 and AMOS-29 statistical softwares. The results showed that the model has favorable fit indices and secure and ambivalent attachment styles are related to the mediating role of the image of God with religious commitment, and the image of God fits as a complete mediator for the secure and ambivalent attachment style. Making God positive and explaining the mother's place, paying attention to the process of education with the focus on the mother emphasized.
