Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Islamic Hope Therapy on the happiness and life satisfaction of mothers of children with autism spectrum disorder. The research method was semi-experimental with a pre-test and post-test design of two groups which included a control group and an experimental group. The statistical population of this research was all the mothers of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) who had referred to an autism rehabilitation training center in Qom in 2023. The number of participants in each group was 12, and the intervention took place in 8 weekly sessions of 90 minutes. Dependent variables, happiness and life satisfaction scales, were investigated in two stages. The findings showed a significant difference between the control and the experimental groups in life satisfaction and happiness. The results showed that the Islamic Hope Therapy protocol is an effective method in increasing happiness and life satisfaction of mothers of children with ASD. Therefore, the presented protocol can be used in the intervention process for these mothers.
