Aim: The recent longitudinal studies by quantitative means show that the level of religiosity has been decreasing in Iran. These findings have some implications such as the need for powerful interventions. Therefore, the present study was conducted to develop a life skills training package based on Islamic teachings for improving and facilitating religiosity among university students. Method: In so doing, by using WHO model and Islamic sources, a program of 10 sessions was designed and its effectiveness was investigated in a sample group of 15 students in University of Tehran. To collect data, Religiosity Scale for Students (Khodayarifard et al., 1392) and Positive Thinking Scale (Khodayarifard et al., 1391) were used. Findings: The results of Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) with repeated measure design showed that the religiosity of the group in posttest stage is significantly different from that in the pretest stage. Examination of the between-subjects effects also showed that religious belief and religious affects have significantly increased; however, religious behavior has not changed. On the other hand, results showed that the positive thinking profile of the group has had significantly differences between the two stages (pretest and posttest); and its effect size seems to be high. Conclusion: Therefore, it is possible to enhance some religious components by the present program; though some changes should be made in the program to pave the ways for promoting religious behaviors.
