This research aimed to study the efficiency of the regulation of interest (based on the Islamic zuhd doctrine) as an emotional cognitive model to increase general healthlevel of clients in comparison with cognitive beha-vioral therapy. This interest regulation model was designed in the form of a protocol for clinical intervention.
The statistical sampling was carried out from among the clients who attended the two therapy centers: Counselling Center of Imam Khomeini Institute and the University of the Qur'an and Hadith.
The samples were chosen from among individuals diagnosed to be suffering from generalized anxiety based on the clinical interview called DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition).
General health questionnaire (GHQ) was used for pretest, post-test and following up.
The clients were divided in two groups. The applying groups received their therapy protocols within 8 weeks and were compared with the control group. The comparison of the three groups was analyzed by the statistic covariance model and repeated measures (using Analysis of covariance or ANCOVA).
Findings: The results showed that the interest regulation group was more effective in comparison with the cognitive behavioral group and the control group in increasing general health level [of the clients]
